The Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, Mr. James Camille, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Henry Jardine, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Seychelles.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between Seychelles and the United States and provided an opportunity to exchange views on areas of mutual interest, particularly in the fields of security and capacity building. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in maritime security, including efforts to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, narcotics trafficking and piracy, as well as enhancing collaboration in law enforcement to address cybercrime, the misuse of cryptocurrencies, intelligence sharing and transnational crime.
Both parties also underscored the importance of continued capacity building through training and professional development programmes for police officers, prison officials and other government personnel. Key initiatives such as Cutlass Express, the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) were highlighted as important platforms for sustained engagement and cooperation.
The courtesy call reflected the shared commitment of Seychelles and the United States to regional security, stability and ongoing bilateral collaboration.
